Dear Neighbor,
Don't forget tonight the 49th Ward Participatory Budgeting Leadership Committee will be hosting a Neighborhood Assembly to present the proposed neighborhood improvement projects that will be put to a vote of the entire 49th Ward community in May.
The meeting takes place TONIGHT (Tuesday, March 29th), 7:00 p.m., at the United Church of Rogers Park, 1545 W. Morse (at Ashland), 3rd Floor. Free parking is available across the street at the southwest corner of Ashland and Morse.
This is the latest step in my "Participatory Budgeting" process that gives 49th Ward residents the to power to decide directly how to spend the Ward's $1.3 million "menu money"--discretionary funds received annually by each Chicago alderman for infrastructure improvements in their wards.
You will hear directly from six volunteer committees about projects they're proposing to be placed on the election ballot on Saturday, May 7th. You'll then have an opportunity to offer your feedback and suggestions on the proposed ideas.
If you're not able to make tonight's meeting, an identical Neighborhood Assembly will be held Thursday, March 31st, 7:00 p.m., at the Pottawattomie Park Fieldhouse, 7340 N. Rogers. And a Neighborhood Assembly in Spanish will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, at St. Jerome Church Parish Center, 1706 W. Lunt.
