As you can see, the garage is empty except for the spring remains of a burned mattress. There is no power or any utility in the garages that could have caused the fire. IMO, this is the work of either 'squatters' using the garage as a place to....? or arsonists/vandals. The Fire Department said the fire started on/in the mattress. If the garage had been properly secured this never would have happened. IMO, the property owner/bank should be 'cited' for not having secured the property. mcl

I heard a man earlier this week yelling at what seemed to be his girlfriend that he was going to burn down her garage. Not sure if this is related. But we live next door to the garage that caught fire.

My guess is that this fire was set by vandals, possibly those who were setting fires in the Washington Playlot on Paulina. The garages are not in use, as far as I can determine. The building went into foreclosure (3 separate condos) several years ago and is vacant.
I called 911 Monday morning when I saw one of the 'ladies' from Howard Street escorting a gentleman to the rear of 7714 N Marshfield and into the garage. I'm not sure if their visit was drug related or otherwise.
