ILLINOIS POLITICS

This 'commentary' in today's Chicago Sun-Times, regarding the State's early release program, not only sets the record straight on the FACTS, but also provides a glaring example of how the 'MainStreamMedia' simply regurgitates what is fed them.  A must read: link here!

ROGERS PARK ACTIVIST TO RUN FOR
 LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR
Pawnbroker Cohen picks campaign aide as running mate.......
Posted by David Heinzmann at 8:10 a.m.

Weeks ago, when it became clear pawnbroker Scott Lee Cohen was going to attempt to run for governor, sources familiar with his campaign said the only hold up was a search for a running mate. Last week, when Cohen finally announced his intentions to run, he invited members of the public to apply for the privilege of running with him.

Now, Cohen is picking one of his own campaign workers, 35-year-old Baxter Swilley, to be his lieutenant governor candidate. He plans to announce the decision this morning at a church on the West Side.

Swilley, a native Chicagoan, was Cohen's first choice all along, campaign spokesman John Davis said. "He was the first person Scott asked, but Baxter wanted to take a couple of weeks to think about it and when he did, he decided to come along," Davis said.

Swilley helped run Cohen's successful primary campaign for the Democratic lieutenant governor nomination. He was in Cohen's inner circle as the novice candidate's suprise victory imploded just days after the Feb. 2 primary when the news media uncovered troubling details of Cohen's personal life and business dealings.

Cohen is not assured a spot on the ballot. He needs to gather 25,000 signatures for ballot petitions by June 21.

MUST READ-BREAKING NEWS

Burris confirms request for Blagojevich donation
February 14, 2009 9:27 AM
U.S. Senator Roland Burris has disclosed for the first time that he was asked for up to $10,000 in campaign donations by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's brother before he was appointed to the Senate seat by Blagojevich, according to a published report.

Burris didn't make the donation,
the Chicago Sun-Times reported on its Web site today. Illinois' junior senator gave the newspaper a copy of a sworn statement about the campaign cash solicitation, which he previously had sent to the head of the Illinois House impeachment committee.

Burris, a Democrat, told the newspaper he sent the affidavit, dated Feb. 5, to Democratic Rep. Barbara Flynn Currie when he realized his testimony before the committee she headed wasn't complete.
"There were several facts that I was not given the opportunity to make during my testimony," Burris said. "I voluntarily submitted an affidavit so everything was transparent."

Currie, reached by The Associated Press on Saturday, said she's received Burris' statement but hasn't had time to compare it to his testimony.
Burris said he had three discussions with the ex-governor's brother, Robert Blagojevich, who led the Friends of Blagojevich campaign fund. The conversations took place after Burris expressed interest in the Senate seat to several Blagojevich associates.

Burris said he rejected the requests for money and "made it unequivocally clear ... that it would be inappropriate and pose a major conflict because I was interested in the Senate vacancy."
GOP state Senate Leader Christine Radogno said Burris should have disclosed the Blagojevich campaign solicitations earlier, both to the state impeachment committee and to the U.S. Senate.

"If it turns out this was some sort of attempt to avoid this coming out as part of the appointment process, then he doesn't deserve to be senator," Radogno told the Sun-Times. "I think the whole thing stinks to high heaven." Burris was appointed to the Senate in December by fellow Democrat Blagojevich, who was removed from office soon afterward. Burris filled the vacancy created by Barack Obama's move to the White House.

NEW BASIC ELEMENT DISCOVERED

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories has discovered the heaviest, densest element yet known to science.

The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A tiny amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second, to take from 4 days to 4 years to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years. It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium (symbol=Ad), a large element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Is it any wonder that Chicago is selling off/leasing assets, cutting and eliminating city services and our property taxes are increasing in an out of control manner? Oh well, what's $153,000,000.00? Besides, as the Mayor says, "It's not my/our fault."

MUST READ

This article in today's Chicago Sun Times, is a glaring example as to how things work in Chicago and Illinois, to the detriment and at the expense of the average citizen. It's got it all: a well connected non-profit religious organization, favored friends and developers as well as the wife of Blago. (Reportedly, Patti 'Bleepin' Blago, got her job with the Chicago Christian Industrial League thru recommendations from Gery Chico, Daley's former Chief of Staff and Fred Lebed, a business partner of Roland 'Tombstone' Burris, who is on the CCIL Board of Directors.) It's unbelievable, outrageous and unfortunately never ending and it's all 'on the back' of the taxpayer. This way of doing business, coupled with our wasteful, over sized, bloated City, County and State bureaucracies , is why 'it is what it is'! Boy, do the 'people' need to wake up!
