FYI:

RTA offers funding for "creative project proposals" to improve transportation across Chicago area (RTA Web site): http://link.chicagotribune.com/r/VKC7L0/HJRC9/4C8F9K/ZK16/IY1QZE/JY/t
The suggestion below would seem to qualify as a very valid 'creative project proposal'. What say you, our elected representatives?

Hi Angela

It's actually an idea that I first discussed with Julie 10 or so years ago. I've always felt it should have been incorporated into the overall planning and strategy for the newly completed rebuilding of the Howard Street CTA/PACE component of the Gateway Centre. Everyone who I have spoken to about the idea, over the years, strongly supports it as a 'no brainer', which would provide a direct link to all three mass transit components (METRA, CTA & PACE) at Howard Street. What a boon to all three systems not to mention the public, as well as business development in Southeast Evanston and Northeast Chicago along the Howard Street corridor.

Mike,

Julie asked me to respond to your email as she is swamped in Springfield with budget issues this week.
Your email was the first I’ve heard of a Metra stop link to the Howard CTA. Is this a proposal of yours/folks in the community or something that you’ve heard tossed around by CTA/Metra folks?

Julie,

Any chance the idea/proposal of a METRA stop/station at Clark St./Chicago Ave. and Howard Street, to provide a direct link to the new CTA Howard Street Station, is being put on the table at this time of 'infrastructure' investment with stimulus funds? What a benefit to all North Shore/Rogers Park mass transit commuters and users it would be!

Thanks,

MUST READ

Is it any wonder that Chicago is selling off/leasing assets, cutting and eliminating city services and our property taxes are increasing in an out of control manner? Oh well, what's $153,000,000.00? Besides, as the Mayor says, "It's not my/our fault."
