GUESS........?

Today's 'GUESS' post raises several serious questions.  Let me explain....yesterday, July 28th at 7:15 PM, while monitoring 24th District police scanner 'traffic', the following occurred; Beat car 2422 (Beat 2422 boundaries are: Juneway Terrace on the North, Jarvis to the South, Clark Street to the West and the lake to the East) requested permission to "gas up."  The Assignment Dispatcher immediately gave her approval.
Today's question is: "GUESS where  Beat Car 2422 requested to go, and got permission to go, "to gas up"?

Answer: Cicero & Sunnyside Avenue!!

This location is a 10 mile drive out of Beat 2422. It is, in fact, in the 17th Police District, which means that Beat car is effectively out of service in it's assigned Beat for at least an hour and a half, maybe longer. If this is standard operating procedure, it explains why, when calling 911 and requesting Police service, we are often told, "We'll dispatch a Beat car when one is available." Inquiring minds want to know why Beat cars are not "gassed up" in their own District and why it isn't done at the beginning of their shift?
