COMMUNITY ALERT REGARDING THE HAROLD WASHINGTON CHILDREN'S PLAYLOT

Since August, 2009, when 24th District Acting Commander Robert Whalen announced that 'his' Officers would no longer enforce posted Chicago Park District Rules and Regulations at the Harold Washington Memorial Playground, the situation and conditions have gone from bad to worse. Playlot hours and age restrictions are not enforced and calls to 911 involving the playlot are not responded to and disregarded (coded 19) by his Officers. In the meantime, as the following photos depict, what was meant to be a safe and secure place for boys and girls 11 and under to recreate, has been, and is being systematically destroyed as it is taken over by older youth, thugs and gangbangers.
