HOWARD STREET HISTORY

(click photo to enlarge)
This wall was uncovered in about 1998? when the then "My Place For" restaurant's exterior was being remodeled.  When the building's north exterior wall covering was removed, this was exposed.  The building was the original "Scotty's Tap" location, (7545 N. Clark Street) a very popular Rogers Park 'watering hole' for many years. Around 1968 Scotty's relocated to the northwest corner of Damen and Rogers Avenue (now the site of townhouses) when "My Place For" opened on Clark Street.  This location is now, of course, home to "Hop Haus", where the painted brick sign remains, unseen, under the redone north exterior wall of the building.
