Representatives of the owners of the building that houses the Morse Theatre and Century Public House restaurant in Rogers Park announced Friday morning that they have reached "an agreement in principle" to take over management of the venue.

The old Nickelodeon theater at 1328 W. Morse underwent a brick-by-brick restoration to a state-of-the-art jazz venue last year. It opened to critical acclaim in October.

Assuming business operations of Rogers Park Entertainment Ventures Inc., which has been managing the venue since its opening in October, is 86th Ohio LLC.

Last month, word of a dispute between the current management, including longtime Rogers Park resident Andy McGhee, and the silent investors left the theater's fate hanging in the balance.

A source at 86th Ohio LLC, who asked not to be named, said that plans for future concerns and bookings will be developed in the weeks ahead.
"We want to ensure the continued operation of the theater as an essential element in the revitalization of Morse Avenue and Rogers Park," the press statement said. "It is our intention to honor all performance contracts entered into by Rogers Park Entertainment Ventures to date."

According to the Morse Theatre's Web site, shows and the WFMT classical musical program, which broadcasts live from the Morse at 11 a.m. on Sundays, are booked through March 29.
