ELECTION NEWS CORRESPONDENCE

The following e-mail was sent to NHNA members Tuesday evening (a copy was sent to Alderman Moore) regarding the political flyer that illegally littered our cars and streets NoH Tuesday.

In a message dated 4/3/2007 8:31:48 P.M. Central Daylight Time, luckenbach@rcn.com writes:
Greetings All,
Here is an example (see below post) of local politics in the best tradition of 'swift boating' and Karl Rove. How low can you go, Joe? The neighborhood is littered with these flyers and residents should demand that this trash be removed from our cars and streets immediately! Contact Moore's office at 773-338-5796 or AldMoore@aol.com to complain.

Mike,
The flyer you refer to was put out by the ACORN PAC, not my campaign, so I would suggest you call ACORN's PAC to complain, Nonetheless, I'm curious. Just what part of the flyer was a "smear?" Both "Paradise" and Hugh are avowed Gordon supporters. In fact, Paradise is going door-to-door for Don. Are you suggesting the quotes aren't accurate? John Kerry was smeared because the Swift Boat veterans lied and distorted Kerry's war record. Where are the lies and distortions in the flier ACORN flier? Please point them out. Sometimes the truth really hurts.

Joe,
Get real! The flyer is as much yours as ACORN's. As to the smear, it's an obvious effort to distort Don Gordon's positions and his character and instill fear, strictly based on out of context quotes from individuals in an ongoing blog discussion/debate. It is smear and fear mongering in, as I said earlier, the best tradition of the 'swift boaters' and Karl Rove style of politics. Were you remotely concerned with the truth you would have spoken out against this kind of 'tactic'. The real truth is, you don't want to discuss the issues and why, after your 16 years in office, our community suffers seriously from lack of Aldermanic leadership regarding our LOCAL problems and concerns, and without planning based on any kind of broadbased COMMUNITY resident input! That's the TRUTH that hurts and it hurts everyone living in the 49th Ward!

Wow. Just reading that email makes me feel dirty. Does he want us to go after some of his supporters and their values? I don't think it's an appropriate thing to do really.

How anyone can actually believe these machiavellian concepts about Don is beyond me! I don't believe they actually do believe it.

They just want to win ANY way they can and they don't care what they have to do to win. And they have no shame about that evidently.

It's sad there isn't more honor in politics.

I supported Joe in his first 2 terms, but begain to realize that while Joe talks a 'good game' when it comes to professing to care about 'people' and the community, there was very little if anything really being accomplished under his stewartship! (Other than 'growing' a huge campaign war chest, along with an ever larger DevCorp North budget, while looking out for a 'favored few' vested interests, without real community input regarding major issues,etc.). The thing that really amazes me is how much Joe seems to exemplify the very kind of politics and goverence that the Bush (I prefer Molly's 'Shrub') crowd practices.

From his detailed response, Moore sure seems awfully familiar with the contents of the "ACORN" flier.

"The truth hurts, nyah, nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah!"

What a snide and childish response. Joe is a pre-pubescent boy in a large man's body.
