CHICAGO TRIBUNE ENDORSES GORDON

"49th Ward (North Side): Ald Joe Moore got only 55 percent of the vote in his last election, but he apparently didn't get the message that many people wanted him to focus on his community. He often seems more interested in headline-grabbing efforts like the ban on foie gras, which held Chicago up to national ridicule. Meanwhile, his ward struggles with crime, housing and development issues. Moore faces spirited opposition from three opponents. The best is businessman Don Gordon, who believes the 49th deserves an alderman who pays more attention to the 49th. Gordon pledges an energetic first 100 days to revitalize the ward's "chaotic" commercial districts and refocus on lakefront parks. He is endorsed. Journalist Chris Adams and electrician Jim Ginderske also are running."
