Firefighter EMT Exam

The Chicago Fire Department is looking for men and women to join the ranks of the second largest fire department in this country. Minimum qualifications to apply are a driver's license, have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED, residency in the City of Chicago, and must be 19 by May 31, 2006 (proof of age must be provided). Firefighter examination applications will be accepted from March 20 to April 11. Job announcements describing the application and hiring process, are available at all Chicago Public Library branches and at www.cityofchicago.org/fire. In person applications will be accepted at from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the following locations: Harold Washington College, 30 E. Lake St.; Malcolm X. College, 1900 W. Van Buren; Harry S. Truman College, 1145 W. Wilson Ave. There is a $20 per application fee. If you are presently unemployed, or receiving supplements security income or transitional assistance, please call (312) 744-4976 to find out what documents you must provide in order to qualify for a fee waiver.

The exam will be administered on May 25 and 26. You will be randomly assigned a date, time and seat. No reschedules will be permitted for anyone under any circumstances.
